What is it?
Workflow is the business path that a Case can go through. The Workflow is configurable as per the needs of the firm/user. Workflow is represented in the form of action buttons that migrate the Case from one Status to another. Statuses and Transitions are predefined in the Admin & Setup. Workflows are shaped by the transitions that allows the movement of Cases accordingly.
Statuses can be Global or non-Global. When a Status is Global it means that it doesn't abide by any Workflow. A Transition to a Global Status is allowed at any time. Even if there is a predefined Workflow, the user can still deviate from the Workflow and jump in to a Global Status.
Configuring a Global Status while there is a Workflow is strictly concerned with the business need of the user. For this release, App4Legal supports only one Workflow for both Litigation and Legal Matters.
In order to Add a Status, go to Admin & Setup-> Workflows-> Case Workflow-> select Workflow Statuses. Within the form, click on Add Add new workflow status.
Global Statuses can be defined by the Global flag.
Transitions & Statuses
A Transition draws a relation between to Statuses that are said to be From & To. In the List Statuses the user can add a Transition using the plus sign.
A Transition has a name and the next step.
In the magnifier sign, the user can view the transition:

Transitions in Cases
Workflow action buttons appear above the Case Dashboard. Once an action is chosen, the Case Status is automatically changed according to the Steps defined in the Transition. Global Statuses are always available.
